Pourmohseni Hadi, a marble magnate from Italy, became so frustrated with the mechanical problems of his £100,000 ($160,000) BMW M6 that he decided that the only solution was to take out his frustrations on the car itself.
He and a friend took a hammer and an axe - and some considerable time - to inflict major damage on the hapless vehicle, much to the fascination of passersby outside the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The activity also attracted the interest of a passing police officer, who wanted to be sure Mr Hadi was, in fact, the owner of the vehicle before, apparently, giving him a parking ticket.
The sign on the car reads “Bewusste BMW - Betrugerei Mangelhafte Gestze” which loosely translates to “BMW Consciously Scams – And Laws Are Inadequate” a reference to both his views on the manufacturer's lack of response and the Italian legislative system which would take more than seven years to process a civil claim if Mr Hadi was to take it to court.
According to the extensive media coverage Hadi's stunt generated, he intends to have the car repaired only to smash it up again in Germany outside BMW's headquarters.
