Training is order of the day in Nigeria and Abu Dhabi

Online and face-to-face training has helped technicians in the automotive and aviation industries.

In Nigeria, North Africa's leading vehicle lubes manufacturer, Ammasco International, has put 200 auto technicians through a lubricants training course facilitated by US-based oil producer, Lubrizol.

The Lubrizol training team, working with Ammasco's products - including its Amalube, Amgear and Rondo branded lubes - focused on the engine diagnostics to identify the use of sub-standard or inappropriate use of lubes, as well as how to use high performance lubes appropriately.

Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi-based airline, Etihad Airways, signed a deal with BP's Air Lubricants Division to provide online learning via its Training Academy.  Around 125 of the airlines maintenance and engineering staff will study using BP's technical e-learning programmes.

The training focuses on product performance, particularly BP's BPTO 2917 HPC lubricant, which has been used on the Etihad fleet since 2009.  According to an Etihad spokesman, the training is already starting to pay off, with a significant improvement in engine and turbine reliability and performance.

The training deal is the largest to date by any airline with BP's Training Academy.
