There has been a 28% growth in searches for Smart TVs, as a staggering 4.9 billion connected things will be in use globally in 2015, up 30% year-on-year, according to reasearch consultants Gartner.
With US citizens spending 151 minutes per-day on smartphones, Google has found that searches for "nearby" have grown five times since 2011, while searches for personal health apps have increased 12-fold in as many months.
Consumer searches for "same day delivery" has doubled between February 2010-2014 and there has been a rising interest in drones with 800,000 hours of drone videos watched on YouTube in November 2014.
The message for marketers? Create better consumer experiences and provide relevant ads and content, particularly with local inventory and involving wearable (or at least mobile) technology.
