Single oils for marine lubricants should be safe and simple, as Aegean sign a deal with SK.
With most of Total Lubmarine's customers using a single oil, the company believes that 'single solution' universal lubricants - likely to be bio-based - represent the future of marine cylinder lubrication. This belief has been supported by a recent survey conducted by Total's marine division with ship owners and managers.
The Total poll revealed a 90% overall increase in the use of bio-lubricants by the shipping industry since 2009, largely driven by regulation and environmentally friendly company policies. In addition, 69% of respondents said they will buy, or are likely to buy, eco-friendly products over the coming months.
Meanwhile a new global cooperation agreement has been reached between Aegean Marine Petroleum and SK Lubricants which will increase business for both companies.
The reciprocal agreement will see Aegean's South Korean customers being provided with marine lubricant products by SK Lubricants, whilst extending Aegean's supply of the SK product range to customers in 45 countries and 550 ports worldwide.
