The Moscow-based RPI report indicates a 3% annual growth led by strong vehicle sales, potentially reaching 563,000 tons in 2020. 2013 saw national consumption at 455,000 tons.
Russia's vehicle fleet is expected to expand and change along with the need for synthetic and semi-synthetic lubricants in particular.
A 4.5% year-on-year increase in the passenger car lubricant market is predicted with a 2% increase in demand growth rate for light commercial vehicles, heavy-duty vehicles and buses.
Meanwhile Russian lubes marketer Gazpromneft has signed a deal with Israel-based Negev Distribution Lubricants. According to Lube Report, the deal involves delivering around 2,000 tons of finished lubricants and technical fluids to Negev Distribution in 2015.
