Is that it? The Raspberry Pi Image: Jared Smith |
For something so tiny (just the size of a smart phone) the Raspberry Pi is helping marketers create infinitely flexible messages.
Invented by computer scientists in the labs at the University of Cambridge in the UK, the device was designed as a low-cost way to help schools engage students in computer programming at an early age.
However, what started life as a tool for education has now become a 'must-have' for the creative industry.
The reason is as easy as Pi. The device's ability to connect to networks and a wide range of other devices, offers huge impact for creating marketing presentations or allowing consumers to be involved in the design, development and testing of products.
The miniature computer, with the ability to embed processing power from other devices, can bring products and 'wearables' to life and connecting them to one another. Equally importantly, retailing at around £20 ($31 the low price tag means the Raspberry Pi allows marketing budgets to stretch significantly further, with a better return on investment for businesses.
