Philadelphia drivers are being warned not to reserve parking spaces in a Twitter campaign using the hashtag #NoSavesies.
With piles of snow exacerbating the parking problem in the US city, drivers are becoming more desperate to find parking spaces. Furniture, toilets and even a working grandfather clock have been deployed by motorists trying to save no-cost parking spaces.
Motorists' ignorance
The police campaign has revealed a startling fact to Sergeant Eric Gripp who runs the Philadelphia Police Department's Twitter account. "The most shocking thing is the number of people that did not know you couldn't do that [save a parking space]."
Twitter seems to be the weapon of choice for urban police departments trying to combat parking problems, as reported earlier by OATS.
