Mercedes suspends its F1 car.

A new art form, the suspended car, has been created as part of a Mercedes Team Formula 1™ exhibition.

The car, View Suspended II, is the work of Dutch artist Paul Veroude and uses 3,200 parts suspended by individual wires to deconstruct the latest technology used in a Mercedes GP Petronas Formula One car.

The artwork, which represents more than 290,000 hours of design and manfacturing time, is being displayed as part of the Mercedes-Benz World and Formula One™ Exhibition next to the historic Brooklands motor racing circuit and motor museum in Surrey, England.

The components for the flying sculpture, made from materials including carbon fibre, titanium, aluminium and magnesium, were all sourced directly from the F1 team and Mercedes-Benz High Performance Engines and weigh only slightly more than 600kgs.
