LLK International is set to spend cash on improving its oeprations in Rumania to boost high quality output.
The $2.5m investment comes on top of a $3.5m spend last year in the refinery jointly owned by LLK-International - a wholly owned subsidiary of Lukoil - and Rumania's Petrotel. The money will be used to modernise lubes production at the plant.
The investment will allow the construction of a full automation of its oil-blending facility at the site, as well as packaging exquipment and storage improvements. The move comes as Lukoil looks to increase its presence in the high performance lubes market through its Genesis branded range.
The Rumanian plant is already beginning production of the company's Genesis Premium 5W40 and 5W30 oils, both of which meet Euro-5 and 6 standards, with the new investment helping to speed production as Lukoil takes the product to the Eastern European markets.
