Thatcham Research has given a live demo of automatic emergency braking (AEB).
With auto braking on trucks set to become a legal requirement for all new HGVs over 7.5t from November 2015, the research company provided a nail biting demonstration of AEB at work in a Volvo truck.
The live demo showed how radar, lasers and optical sensors can identify other vehicles (and often pedestrians warn the driver and apply the brakes if the driver doesn't respond in time to avoid the accident.
