Huge revenue gains from Big Data and Analytics

Adoption of Big Data and Analytics techniques can reduce churn, according to a new report from Juniper Research.

Mobile Operators could see a global reduction in churn equivalent to an increase in revenues of almost $4bn a year by 2018.

Helped by increasingly sophisticated analytics platforms and increased use of 'Big Data', operators are more able than ever to predict which customers will churn, allowing them to reduce revenue loss by taking preventative action.

Last year, a South African network operator saw annualised churn fall by more than 20% through the deployment of a Big Data programme which combined subscriber information and social network analysis.

The Juniper report highlights overall predicted savings and incremental revenues of almost $9bn by 2018 for mobile operators, with analytics also cited as being key to customer segmentation which, in turn, will allow targeting and upselling opportunties.
