Holly and Frontier merge


US-based oil refiners, Holly Corporation and Frontier Oil Corporation are set to merge.

The $7bn deal will create a large refining business that will serve the mid-US, Rocky Mountain and Southwest markets as well as supplying the Canadian crude sector.

Holly, an independent gasoline, diesel, aviation fuel and lubes refiner, is based in Dallas, Texas with refineries operated on its behalf in New Mexico, Oklahoma and Utah producing some 250,000b/d.  The company also leases pipelines, storage and terminal facilities through its Holly Energy Partners interest.

Frontier, also independent and based in Houston, Texas, runs refineries in Wyoming, Kansas, the Rocky Mountains and Plains States, refining and marketing some 180,000b/d of predominently gasoline and diesel.
