Google will launch an algorithm to rank mobile-friendliness.
21st April will see mobile usability become a ranking factor in mobile search on Google.
According to the Internet Search giant, "users will find it easier to get relevant, high-quality search results that are optimised for their devices”.
Sites are more likely to rise up the Google mobile search rankings if they provide an improved experience for mobile users- in essence, responsive websites designed to adapt to different mobile technology screen sizes. What will happen to searches for mobile-unfriendly sites has not been disclosed.
Google has also revealed that it will "begin to use information from indexed apps as a factor in ranking for signed-in users who have the app installed.”
