As many companies are struggling to adjust and improve facilities to meet the most recent fuel standard, National IV, China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC) has already produced 700,000 tons of National V grade gasoline.
In conjunction with the China Petroleum and Petrochemical Research Institute, the Chinese major has developed a process of catalytic hydrodesulphurisation (DSO) to produce a more advanced fuel, possibly in anticipation of further tightening of emissions regulations.
The gasoline’s sulphur content does not exceed 108mg/kg, making it the cleanest fuel produced by CNPC, parent of PetroChina Corp. In a bid to clean up its fuel operations, CNPC has stated it will reproduce the technology at 11 petrochemical operations nationwide.
