US lubes producer, Chevron, has announced a new engine oil for natural gas-powered vehicles.
Adding to its Delo® range, the new 400 NG product is a 15W-40 synthetic engine oil designed specifically for compressed natural gas and liquified natural and petroleum gas engines for medium and heavy-duty vehicles.
Chevron cites bus, linehaul, delivery and waste trucks as just some of the vehicles targeted by the new product which, according to the company, offers long drain performance as well as improving engine durability and reliability.
Gas-powered vehicles are becoming increasing popular, particularly with public sector fleet operators who are under pressure to reduce costs and environmental impact, yet maintain high levels of public service. The new Delo 400 NG lube meets OEM performance spec for the major heavy diesel manufacturers, including Cummins and Detroit Diesel, as well as service standards for the likes of Volvo, Mack and Hyundai's gas engines.
The new NG engine oil is due to reach shelves across the US in June this year.
