The former Shell facility, is sited in the Port of Vicksburg in Mississippi at the heart of the US' Southern States refining industry. The plant is set to by purchased by independent lubes producer, CAM2, for an undisclosed sum and will be used for blending and packaging motor oil and other lubricants.
Vacant since 2009, the facility used to employ 24 people; the CAM2 purchase will involve the hiring of 35 employees, possibly rising to 60 within two years, with operations re-starting as early as June 2014. Because of its location, the site will also provide low-cost freight access to many of the company's raw materials.
As a result of the purchase, CAM2 is set to move its corporate HQ to the area at the same time.
