Amazon is the latest player in the online synthetic motor oil market.
The online retailer quietly launched a private label Basics Synthetic Motor Oil in July. Blended by Warren Distribution, the product has so far had positive reviews from customers.

The product range includes conventional, synthetic, high-mileage synthetic and high-mileage synthetic blend products.
According to Lube Report, there are mixed views about the Amazon move with one industry analyst predicting the company will become a large player in the market and another saying quite the opposite.
Amazon has not disclosed its sales targets for the lubes products. Competitors are concerned about the likely impact on the market but question whether the online giant will maintain the low price with such thin margins.
Meanwhile Lukoil has begun selling motor oil via Amazon. The company has plans to expand its product range and start online Amazon sales in all regions where it operates soon.
E-commerce sales of lubricants is not new. OATS previously reported on Sinopec's sales on its online platform back in 2012.
