Afton Chemical's HiTEC(R) 6560 gasoline fuel performance additive has met the Top Tier™ standard.
Afton submitted its family of additives for the new standard back in May 2010, with the approval being announced in November after the deadline for submissions had been extended.
The Top Tier™ fuel additive standard has been created by the automotive industry - primarily Audi, BMW, GM, Honda, Toyota and VW - to take fuel performance futher than existing US Environmental Protection legislation, with regard to detergents and additives used to control deposits in engine components from unleaded fuel.
According to Afton, they were one of the first additive companies to be able to comply with the tougher standards, meeting the original submission deadline set by the industry.
