The European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) has updated its Oil Sequences listing.
The 2010 European Oil Sequences replaces the 2008 document and, according to the organisation, includes new requirements and improvements to meet the latest engine technology and oil formulations.
The document covers Service-fill Oils for Gasoline engines, for Light-Duty Diesel engines, for Gasoline & Diesel engines with aftertreatment devices and for Heavy-Duty Diesel engines. It defines minimum quality levels required by ACEA's members, which include all of Europe's major car and truck brands including Ford, GM and Toyota's European divisions.
The new specifications mean that oils first allowed for use under the the 2007 sequence issue can no longer be marketed or would have to be re-tested and/or approved for a later sequence date.
