US liquid fuels production is its highest for a generation.
The International Energy Agency (IEA) has said that the US production of liquid fuels has overtaken Russia's output for the first time in a decade and places it as the highest producer outside of the combined OPEC nations.
A boom in shale oil and biofuels - such as ethanol and biodiesel - has, according to the IEA, changed the world order, with USĀ production of standard oil and gas liquids for the third quarter of 2013 forecast at 10.28m barrels per day (bpd just six hundred thousand barrels behind Russia.
However, when biofuels are added to the market share, the US moves well ahead of Russia which currently produces a neglible volume, against the US' 900,000 bpd.
