Two domestic producers are working together on an air compressor oils project, which is reducing the need for foreign imports.
Great Wall Lubricants Co will now supply Shanghai Petrochemical Corp (Chongqing Branch) with its own 4511-1 synthetic air compressor oil to replace an expensive, imported 2PE ethylene compressor oil.
After three months of rigorous testing, technicians at Shanghai Petrochemical were satisfied the 4511-1 oil met the same requirements as oil imported from international producers, marking an important milestone in Great Wall's efforts to improve R&D and product development.
Many Chinese lubricants producers have drawn criticism for not investing adequate resources into developing premium products, and therefore allowing international majors to dominate the upmarket sector. This latest deal could signal a reversal of this trend, as well as the increasing ability of local companies to cooperate in areas requiring technical expertise.
The Great Wall 4511-1 compressor oil demonstrates excellent thermal oxidation stability, superior lubricantion, a good resistance to hydrocarbon gas dilution and other compression lubrication requirements.
